Facebook debuts ‘Live Shopping Fridays’ featuring larger brands live streaming beauty, skincare, and fashion content on a weekly basis. The event begins Friday, May 22nd and runs through mid-July, giving these brands an opportunity to use their live shopping events in a number of ways including a behind-the-scenes look at their business or they may partner with creators to showcase their products in “how-to” style videos, for example. Currently only available in the US, with plans to roll out globally in the near future.
Instagram appears to be testing a new ‘bonuses’ program in incentivise Reels Creators, following the footsteps of Snapchat’s Spotlight initiative where it pays $1 million per day to the top Spotlight creators, in order to further boost interest in the option. The IG program seemingly enables users to ‘earn bonuses from Instagram’ when they share new Reels content. Users would need to reach certain bonus thresholds in order to claim ‘earnings’ from the program, while there would also be variable bonuses made available to creators.
Instagram introduces Instagram Drops, a new exclusive destination that helps users discover more products, see what’s coming, sign up for reminders and view the newest products and collections that are already available on the app. All items can be purchased within the app using Instagram Checkout (only available in the US).
Instagram has now announced that everyone on Instagram and Facebook will be able to hide their public like counts. All users will now be able to hide like counts on their own posts so that others can’t see the number of likes they get – rather than force something on them. This way, they can concentrate on the content itself.
Twitter continues to ramp up its creator monetisation focus with the addition of a new option that will enable users to create ticketed Spaces events, providing another means to generate revenue from your on-platform efforts.
Pinterest Story Pins renamed Idea Pins is now is available to all creators with Pinterest business accounts including those in Australia. Similar to the functionality of Stories, Idea Pins allow content creators to share multiple videos, photos and more in a single post. The only difference – Idea Pins will not automatically disappear after 24 hours.
